MTN Zoo Review

by Gabe Loyd on September 29, 2010

While having a routine morning Bible Study, there was a strange noise coming from outside the front door.  When the door was opened what did appear but a friendly and pregnant goat.  Her name is Lily and she blesses us with her presence on a regular basis.  The men love having her around and apparently she loves us as well.  The door was opened and in she came to receive the Word with the rest of us.  We all laughed and let her sit in on our study group as the Word was read.  Although she doesn’t belong to us, she is still accepted as part of the family and it is not uncommon to see her somewhere around the house or on the property.  We all had a great laugh that morning.  It was certainly a great way to start the day.

Lily is running a little behind, but better late than never!

Fish Fry with the Hamilton Mill UMC Men’s Group

by Gabe Loyd on September 21, 2010

The godly men of Hamilton Mill UMC are in constant support of our Ministry.  Their most recent act of support and  love was to invite our men to a wonderful fish fry at their church.  The fellowship was awesome, the food delicious ( as always).  It was great!!  Thank you Hamilton Mill for your undying devotion and constant support of our men!  What a pleasure for the men of Meet The Need Ministry to serve along side with our brothers in Christ at Hamilton Mill.Hamilton Mill Fish Fry 2010GEDC0026

Pole Barn Ressurection

by Gabe Loyd on August 13, 2010

We will do anything to make a buck!!!  There is a lot of humor in this photo.  We get a lot of request for services and anyone that know Rene’ knows he will find a way.  The men at MTN moved a pole barn from one location and set it up in another.  Everyone had their function.  It reminded me of an old fashion “barn raisin”.  The MTN guys came together to help out a neighbor.  All proceeds went toward helping men that have no way of supporting themselves in the first few weeks they are here.  We do not turn anyone away because of a lack of finances.  God always provides somehow….we do however tell every man they will work hard while they are here.  ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE!!!!!

New Roof On Ministry Home

by Gabe Loyd on February 2, 2010

GEDC0012    We are so excited to have a new roof on one of our homes. A wonderful couple donated the shingles and the men got to replace the roof.

One of our board of directors, Robert Smitley came to our aid, and got the men organized and the roofing began. It was a lot of work with a lot of laughs.GEDC0002

As we always like to say, Meet the Need program participants are hard workers and do what ever is necessary to help maintain their individual homes. The work is appreciated but most importantly is the christian fellowship and friendships that develop through these projects.

Donation Of RV To The Ministry

by Gabe Loyd on December 16, 2009

Isn’t she beautiful? We are so excited that someone donated an RV to the ministry. A good pressure wash and wax job and she will look like new. We haven’t named her yet. Any suggestions?

DSCF1760Meet the Need is here to restore men’s lives. Some people might look at the inside of this vehicle and say it’s not even worth messing with. Not us and not God. Our number one challenge is to take men who come to us that are broken and think they can never be fixed and cleaned up. They have been so beaten down by their past and the ravages of drugs and alcohol that  many think that this is how it will always be. Not with God. He can restore them to a place that was better than they ever experienced before. It often starts with a hair cut, bath, and new clothes. then God begins His restoration process.

DSCF1762This RV will be a great project for the men here to work with Rene’, “the master upholstery man”. He will take each part of the RV and begin to restore it to look better than it did brand new, just as God does for us. It will be a lot of work, but the end result will be beautiful. We hope  as each man works on this restoration,  God will allow them to see how He desires to take their broken lives and make them beautiful.

Meet the Need praise team
Meet the Need praise team

One of the things we love to do here, is praise and worship the Lord for all He has done for us. On September 6, Meet the Need had the opportunity to make a joyful noise at Campton United Methodist Church in Campton Ga.

Pastor Jim Draper and his members put on quite a spread for us, the likes we may never see again. After all the home cooked goodies, we were still able to make a joyful noise. days of elisha mtn

We hope this will be the first of many to come. As you can see, we looked quite wonderful with our newly donated red shirts. In case you cannot make it out, the back says… Don’t just go to church… Be the church.

Jane was quite ecstatic as she was playing on a beautiful baby grand piano that was in tune. This has not happened for years!!! Her piano belonged to her mother and grandmother. Although it still looks beautiful it is past the stage that it can even be tuned. We are believing that God will bring Jane and Meet the Need an equally beautiful baby grand to use for our Tuesday night and Sunday services.

Jackson EMC $15,000 Grant

What a blessing. We are so excited that God chose to bless us through Jackson EMC Foundation and Operation Round Up. We want to thank the foundation and particularly  Operation Round-UP board member Joyce Britt and Roger C. Willis- Gwinnett District Manager, Jackson EMC for bringing us this beautiful blessing.

As with their blessing last year, this money will allow us to continue to keep 6 houses going so that more men can be assured of a place to stay when they come out of jail or prison, or when they find themselves in need of addiction recovery assistance. It is quite costly to provide housing each month for as many as 48 men. Most of all the men that come to us come with only the shirt on their back. They are not able to contribute to their own upkeep for quite some time. This need is even greater now because of the economy and the current employment situation.

Thank you Jackson EMC and Operation Roundup for helping us to help others. Thank you for helping us to provide a safe haven for men that desire to start their lives over. Thank you for believing in us and what we are trying to do for the community.

Meet The Need Men at IHOP 08/05/2009

Meet The Need Men at IHOP 08/05/2009

On Wednesday the International House of Prayer hosted Meet The Need Ministry at their location on Collins Hill Rd.  IHOP Atlanta is a ministry serving the entire metro-Atlanta area, open 24 hours a day for any person or group desiring to come at any time to worship and pray individually and/or corporately. The Prayer Room is the heartbeat of all that goes on at the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base. Structured in 84, two hour prayer meetings per week, full teams of musicians, singers, and intercessors lift their voices in praise and supplication, asking God to fulfill His promise and give the nations of the earth to Jesus as His inheritance. Each prayer meeting functions with live worship teams in one of the following four formats: devotional worship, prophetic worship, worship with the Word or intercession. IHOP staff prepared hamburgers, hot dogs, and various other home cooked items to ensure that the men would be very satisfied.  After dinner and fellowship the men proceeded to the IHOP Prayer Room.  The attitude of the men and the spiritual motivation they experienced at IHOP is unmistakable.  Meet The Need would like to lift up IHOP and thank them for their continuing support of the ministry.
